Some pictures I took at places I've been
Over the last decade I have lived in various countries across the world and visited many others. This page is by no means complete and barely up-to-date, but below a couple of shots that I have taken while traveling.
River Kwai, Kanchanaburi, Thailand
Binnenhof, The Hague, Netherlands
The Binnenhof is the oldest House of Parliament in the world still in use
Amsterdam Central Station, Netherlands
Hanoi, Vietnam
The Ho Chi Minh mausoleum
Halong Bay, Vietnam
UNESCO World Heritage Site and recognized as one of the New Seven Natural Wonders of the world.

The end of the Santa Monica pier by dusk. This was just really fortunate timing, the sun was exactly at the right place at the right time.

This one needs no introduction; the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Caltech campus; Parsons-Gates Hall with on the background Millikan Library. Some people might recognize this exact location from the CBS-show 'Numb3rs'.

Cologne by winter. The Hohenzollern bridge over the river Rhine. On the background you see the Dom of Cologne.

Waking up in the middle of nowhere on a nice spring morning; in Death Valley, Mohave desert, California. A truly marvelous place with many interesting spots. We came out there to do a geophysics experiment. Backcountry camping is only allowed with the proper permit, which we had.

Just a water lily, picture taken from a kayak in the Everglades, Florida.

This alligator lives in the Everglades, far from any civilization. Unfortunately, that's also where we accidentally came across it. He (or she) bit the kayak a couple of times and blocked our only way out for over an hour. The poor animal probably felt even more threatened than we did. At least it makes a nice memory and no-one was harmed.

A nice beach on Marathon, one of the Florida Keys. Instead of sand, the beach consists of pieces of dead coral. Perhaps not the best place to for sun bathing, water comes up from the ground wherever you plant your feet.

A little crab on the beach on Marathon.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas

One of the many canals below the streets of Manchester. The city contains a nice mixture of old and very modern buildings.

Horse races at the Epsom Downs racecourse near London.
Melbourne and Sydney (and surroundings):

Downtown Melbourne.

Melbourne provides a combination of city, sea, nice atmosphere and decent (but strongly fluctuating) weather. Not a bad place to be.

Reptile

Snake

Kookaburra. I also came across a young one in Sherbrooke Forest, really cute.

Sydney opera house and Harbour bridge. Unfortunately, I haven't climbed the bridge. For about 200 AUD (and reservation a few days in advance), you can go all the way to the top of the bridge and enjoy a great view.

The cutest thing. Although those Koala's are terribly lazy.
Oslo:

There's probably more activity in the harbor in the summer.

The Oslo opera house is immediately next to water (or ice). You can climb the roof and look out over the Oslofjord.

Sunset in the beautiful Vigeland Park, named after the sculptor Gustav Vigeland.
